What's New? Merging Columns and a Power Query Hack!
Happy Thursday! A couple fun new posts on How To Use Power BI this week!
Merging Columns
Following up from our post last week about how to split columns apart in Power Query, this week we’re learning how to bring data together by Merging Columns in Power Query Editor. Sometimes you get stuck with data spread across columns that should be in ONE column.
Learn how to do it in just 4 minutes here:
Bring them together. Have a party.
A Grouping Columns Hack in Power Query
Power Query Editor is a super powerful part of Power BI. Is your data not quite in the right form you need it in? Chances are, you can automate all your cleaning and transformations in Power Query Editor.
Sometimes though, it throws up some limitations, so this week we’re dealing with a limitation in the “Add Column from Examples” tool and learning a cool and easy hack to get around it.
I’ve never seen anyone else do this (but the world is a big place), so it may be an Travers original. LOL.
It takes just 6 minutes to learn this one.
Next Week:
Coming up… how to format your pages in Power BI (not individual charts, but the canvas where your charts live). How to make them look exactly how you want them to.
See you next week!
Take care everyone,
Joe.
