Bright & Shiny: Changing a Data Source
Happy Thursday! This week we’re getting a little fancy with Power BI and learning how to easily change a data source.
It’s *really* easy to break a Power BI report by changing a data source, but it’s also really easy to avoid this breakage once we start understanding what Power BI does “behind the curtain” when it connects to and reads a data source.
We can make ONE report that can have infinite versions easily with a simple data source switch.
Learn how here:
Next Week: SUMX
Last week we got started with a little bit of DAX learning and figured out how the SUM function works. Next week we’re having a look at SUMX.
While SUM adds up a column of data, SUMX adds up a row, which can be super useful in calculations and making a more efficient data model.
We’ll talk all about it next week. You’ll love it. :)

You can always check out the How To Use Power BI Archives (they’re free too). Our archives feature this week is related to connecting data sources too. It’s a beginner post about how to connect to Excel data in the first place!
Take care everyone,
Joe.
